I spent a few years on an SSRI antidepressant for anxiety which helped reduce panic attacks, however didn’t stop the day-to-day anxiety. For me, the worst side effect was when I was drinking. I would have a few drinks and then black out and not remember anything the next day, which had never happened before and has not happened since I got off the SSRIs. Admittedly I don't mind a wine or 2, but I was told I was behaving completely out of character and making an absolute fool of myself. I did things I would NEVER usually do, (regardless of whether I’ve had a few drinks) like behaving aggressively, it was really scary. A friend of mine also had the same side effects. Ironically when I got off the SSRIs my anxiety improved.
