I know this article is coming from a parents point of view. I am a parent but also work in the education and care sector. Most families receive CCS to help pay their fees. So where this article says they still have to pay fees, has this parent thought of the fact that industry still has to pay their staff regardless of whether the child is absent. And in an ever demanding highly regulated industry educators are paid a pittance for what is expected from them. It is a far cry from sitting on the floor playing with the children all day. I also get very frustrated hearing that children only ever pick up germs from day care. Have parents ever considered that maybe those germs come from the supermarket trolley or the other patrons at the shop or parks they also take their children to. Interestingly last year during COVID lock downs where my centre continued to run at high capacity for the children of essential workers, we had very little sickness at the centre because parents weren't taking their children to the shops or parks. So while I empathise with parents, take a moment to to empathise with the other side of the coin.
