@kathryn1961  After a quick glance through the too-many boneheaded comments, I congratulate you for being a sensible and honest woman, Kathryn. The big problem is that matters to do with social dynamics and the human condition are enormously complicated and invariably require long answers - whereas the (ignorant) 'knockers' can fire off one-liners that superficially appear to be right and even 'intelligent' but are neither.
This problem is best explained via 'Brandolini's Law' which essentially states: "Many more words are needed to disprove "bs" than produce it."
The ultimate example being that it needs virtually a book to expose the 'bs' of that greatest of three-word idiocies: "No To War."

That 'turn the other cheek' is a lovely 'argument' used by the forces of evil to try and persuade good people to do nothing so the forces of evil can advance unapposed.

It is advice only when used in context. Fighting evil is not such a context.
