I really enjoyed this documentary and I found it extremely upsetting. I cannot fully understand what John button, or anyone who were wrongfully convicted, has gone through. And to lose his first love also. There were a few things that upset me about him. I understand it’s difficult, but there comes a time that with life experience and intellect should be able to move forward a little bit. it is difficult when a loved one dies and I can see how it would be easy to make them perfect, but what he does to his wife is extremely unfair and I truly believe that he could change this if he tried. The other thing that really bothered me was his suicide attempt; not the suicide attempt in itself, I can understand that. But the ironic fact that he was convicted of manslaughter and then he went out that night and could’ve
caused someones death. He took a bottle of pills and then got behind the wheel of a car!!! No matter the trauma, he had no right to put others life at risk. A minor thing that bothered me, that may be understandable due to his fear and insecurity, is that he got on the stand and did nothing to help himself. His answer to what happened to his car was “I’d rather not say”. It’s not the jury’s fault they convicted him. They used what evidence put forth to
them and he did nothing to help himself.
