I was adamant that I was doing just fine without a Thermomix. I felt that 2.2k was a lot of money to spend on a machine that would potentially sit on the counter or in a cupboard.

I love cooking from scratch and I love variety so I had a library of cookbooks where I'd derive my inspiration from.  After two years of being invited to a few Thermomix demos, I realised that this machine could potentially save me a lot of time.
I bought it four years ago (so I have the TM5) and it was the best decision I made.  Yes, there are things that could be done in the blender or whipped up in a bowl but for me the real value is that it frees me up to do other things when making dishes that require stirring constantly or lots of chopping. In some cases, you can make a two course meal simultaneously with the use of the Varoma which is used for steaming.
I love to bake but making bread using the stand mixer was long and at times requires additional kneading by hand. The dough function in the Thermie does it all automatically. Being a messy cook, my family used to enjoy my food but hated the mess they had to clean up. With the Thermomix, there is little mess and I can clean up as I go to the great relief of my family members.
I also love the Cookidoo App which allows you to meal plan for the week(s) ahead and creates the shopping list. I save money and time in the long run. Needless to say, I got rid of almost all my other kitchen appliances, gadgets and cookbooks. You can say that I am a Thermomix convert!
Thanks Georgia for such an amusing article. My heart bled for you amidst the bursts of laughter.
