It would make a big difference if they could actually sterilise women rather than assume they might change their minds. They could start with women who have life threatening medical issues where pregnancy poses a very high risk to their own health or the baby. I couldn't believe that I'd had two separate opinions stating that pregnancy would be a threat to my life but I still couldn't get sterilised. The result is that I ended up having to go on the pill 20 years and counting. I was forced to try a Mirena as the dr didn't want to give me the pill anymore. I had chronic pain the entire time I had it.
And some women have health issues that would make parenthood or a career too overwhelming. There's nothing wrong with knowing what you can and can't handle and living accordingly. There are plenty of meaningful things to do in life. What's meaningful is up to you!
