I'm 67 and my advice is 'stay out of the sun'. My sister died of Melanoma in 1986 and consequently I have avoided the sun as much as possible. I don't mean I stay inside, I mean wear hats and sunblock with vigilance. It's best to wear a daily moisturiser with an SPF 15 or more so that you never have to think about it. Avoid smoking also because the skin of smokers is always grey and lined with all that puffing and blowing. Covering up the arms and legs is better than sun block but when you age, the sunspots still appear and its unavoidable. You have to get them lasered to get rid of them. I was a Beauty Therapist in my twenties so always been conscious of skin care. Although I changed careers later and became a teacher, the knowledge I gained was a life changer. Australian climate being what it is.
Wait, you think peri menopause is tough? Wait for the next phase... menopause! All of the above and worse. For me, as a sole parent it wasn’t too bad until I tried to have sex again. OMG it was painful 😥 I was completely blindsided. Why wasn’t I warned? It was so unpleasant I decided to give it a miss. Not necessarily a bad thing, I transcended, but it’s a personal choice. Thank God/Goddess for vibrators, can’t speak highly enough of them, such lifesavers. If only they could dance and buy me drinks!
