The one thing we all want to know about the new Princess.

The world waits wondering what the latest royal will be named.

She has been born nearly 48 hours and already she has more than one million tweets about her – but all missing one very important detail: her name.

We’ve had the birth.

We’ve seen the Princess.

We’ve gushed over her pics and analysed how her mother scrubbed up after a seamless birth and now we just want to know her name.

So it was with excitement that Kensington Palace made  an announcement. It just wasn’t the announcement we wanted.

Oh COME ON!

The Princess, born on Saturday – the fourth in line to the throne – is just about to lay down her royal head for a second night at Kensington Palace.

She had a busy first day at home being visited by her grandparents.

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, along with Kate’s parents, Michael and Carole Middleton gathered at Kensington Palace to welcome their new granddaughter.

Auntie Pippa also made a visit spending six hours with the family – no doubt making numerous cups of tea and helping her big sis put her feet up.

Shocked about how great the Duchess looked? Read this: It’s okay. Most women do not look like Kate when they’ve just had a baby.

Meanwhile Prince Harry, currently in Australia has released a statement saying that his brother’s baby daughter is “absolutely beautiful”.

“I can’t wait to meet her,” he said.

It isn’t unusual for the royal family to wait before announcing names. It took two days to hear of Prince George’s name – with the couple waiting until they had introduced him to the Queen.

Prince William’s parents Prince Charles and Diana, Princess of Wales, waited a week before revealing the name of their first-born son, William.

The British press have speculated that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will leave Kensington Palace in the next day to travel to Anmer Hall – their Norfolk home.

It is expected they will meet with the Queen shortly after that and they will then (finally) announce what the newest royal is called. In the meantime they released this statement:

Leaving us only wanting more.

So as we wait to find out the Princess’ first, second, third and fourth names (yes she will probably have that many) Here are the favourites:

Diana:

Princess Diana and Prince Harry

This is the people’s favourite – though most royal experts say it will probably appear as a second name.

Elizabeth:

Elizabeth is the Princess’ mother’s middle name Catherine Elizabeth Middleton.

And of course is great granny’s name.

But favourably – so that Kate’s mum doesn’t feel left out it is Carole Middleton’s middle name too.

The Queen Mother’s name was also Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon.

Victoria:

After Victoria Beckham, of course.

 Alice:

So many bets on Alice which is the chosen name of Prince Philip’s mother whose full name was Victoria Alice Elizabeth Julia Marie of Battenberg.

Alice and Charlotte are currently joint favourites at 3/1.

Alexandra:

Alexandra is one of the Queen’s middle names and was the name of the Queen’s great-grandmother, Alexandra of Denmark, the Queen Consort of Edward VII.

 Charlotte:

Charlotte is currently the bookies’ pick. It is Auntie Pippa’s middle name as well as the female version of Granpop’s name the Prince of Wales.

What do you think the Princess will be named? Do you think the Duke and Duchess know or are they having trouble choosing?
