A new study has investigated the most searched-for plastic surgeries in Australia — and it turns out each capital city had vastly different results.

RealSelf, the company behind the study, is the world’s largest community for learning and sharing information about cosmetic surgery. Its research observed data collected from more than 650,000 Aussies; 79 per cent of the users were female, while more than half were aged between 18 and 34.

The most-searched surgery across the nation was breast augmentations, followed by rhinoplasty. ‘Mummy makeovers’ — a post-pregnancy procedure often combining a boob job and tummy tuck — are also on the rise, coming in at number five on the list.

The surgeries of interest among Australians depended on where they call home. RealSelf observed what users hailing from Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, and Brisbane searched for, and then ranked the results by individual cities.

And the results were... rather enlightening.(Post continues after gallery.)

Brisbane had a distinct interest in breast surgeries, viewing 57 per cent more content about them per capita compared to Sydney, which came in second.

Could it have something to do with the fact Queensland is blessed with perfect bikini weather for most of the year?

Brisbanites also have an interest in facelifts, distinctly more than any other of the four cities studied. The Queensland capital researched facelifts 44 per cent more than Perth, which came in fourth behind Sydney and Melbourne.

Sydneysides claimed the title of the Australian city most interested in liposuction, followed by Brisbane, then Melbourne and Perth.

The Harbour city also snatched number one spot for rhinoplasty — i.e. plastic surgery performed on the nose, usually to straighten it — although Melbourne was not far behind, with a difference of just 10 per cent.

Rhinoplasty surgery is becoming more popular in Australia in general, and if you are considering getting surgery on your nose, we recommend you read about Melbourne-based Rhiannon Langley's experience.

Perth residents appear to be the most satisfied with their natural appearances, coming in fourth for all searches apart from breast surgeries, which Melbournians are the least interested in.

So there you have it.
