The tiny detail in Phoebe Burgess' first Instagram post since her split from Sam.

Sam and Phoebe Burgess’ highly-publicised split was the source of countless headlines at the end of last year.

The NRL star and journalist separated in December, two weeks after Phoebe gave birth to their second child, Billy, and two years after their lavish Bowral wedding.

Initially, it was an Instagram photo shared on Christmas Day by Sam’s sister-in-law that sparked rumours of a marriage breakdown, as the 30-year-old was in attendance without his 29-year-old wife.

When Phoebe later changed her Facebook profile photo from one of her and the Rabbitoh’s player at their wedding to a solo picture, the Sydney Morning Herald used it as evidence of the couple’s break up.

A week later, Sam was photographed moving out of their Maroubra home, seeming to confirm the rumours.

All that came just months after a woman claimed a group of NRL players had exposed themselves to her without consent from a verified Facebook account in Sam Burgess’ name.

In September, Sam was cleared of any wrongdoing over the scandal after the NRL completed its investigations.

Amid the tumultuous end to 2018, Phoebe took a notable absence from social media. Until today, the usually frequent poster hadn’t posted anything since December 21, 2018.

However, earlier this afternoon, Phoebe broke her silence with two photos of baby Billy on her story, and a third photo on her feed.

Fans threw their support behind the new mother of two, commenting on how pleased they were to see her back in their feeds.

"Welcome back @mrsphoebeburgess i hope you & your gorgeous children are okay," one woman commented.

"You are back @mrsphoebeburgess good to see you x," another said.

But while the glimpses of the precious baby were exciting enough for fans who had been missing Phoebe's social media presence, there's another small detail within the photos we can't help but noticing - she's still wearing her wedding band.

Of course, there could be many reasons Phoebe is still wearing her wedding ring - after all, many separated couples still do - but given the circumstances, it is an interesting choice.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the couple told family and close friends they were ending their marriage in January, and over the weekend, the Sydney Morning Herald reported Sam was looking for a "bachelor pad" in Coogee through real estate agent Beau Champion.

Although neither party have confirmed rumours of their split, it’s been widely reported Sam and Phoebe are no longer living together.
