Peter Pan proposes to Wendy.

Imagine if Peter Pan ended with Peter proposing to Wendy.

Gross, right? Peter Pan in all of his adaptations is never older than 13. And Wendy is, like 12-13. Child marriage is frowned upon, J.M. Barrie!

Not to mention it would totally mess up the plot of Disney’s straight-to-VHS sequel Return to Neverland, in which Wendy has grown up, married the similarly West London-raised Edward and had two kids.

But we digress.

Now, imagine if Peter Pan ended with the consenting adult playing Peter proposing to the consenting adult playing Wendy.

Much better.

As you might have guessed, a Peter Pan has proposed to his Wendy. The event occurred during a performance of Peter Pan: The Neverending Story (which, based on this clip, seems to draw more from the former children’s book than the latter) at the Metro Arena in Glasgow.

Here’s the video:

And here’s a guided commentary:

00:01 Why are they singing ‘You Raise Me Up’ at the end of Peter Pan? This is weird. Oh no, wait, we get it; when they said ‘Peter Pan stage show’, they meant ‘Peter Pan touring pantomime’. Well, we’d be pissed off if we’d paid for a ticket, but as this is just a viral Youtube video – no judgement.

00:35 Oh, this is nice, he’s stopped the show.

01:19 Okay, man, these things tend to work better if you go for the shock value of an early bended knee.

02:00 Gee, he’s stringing her along for a rather long time, isn’t he? And she seems pretty unstable. Is he getting some sort of sadistic pleasure/Scottish visa out of this?

02:25 Look at how high that woman behind is jumping. Is she wearing Moon Shoes?

02:37 The girl immediately behind is crying quite intensely. Was there a Peter Pan/Lost Boy Number 7 rendezvous we missed?

03:00 Yeah, you can bow, man. You did good. Even if your wife-to-be is still totally hysterical.

03:05 Oh, and lots of clapping. We bet Tinkerbell appreciated that.

What did you think of the Peter Pan proposal?
