My Perfect Sunday: Torah Bright

Images: Instagram.

You know her as the super smiling Aussie snowboarder, but the 27-year-old Cooma native is much more than a pretty face. Torah Bright overcame two concussions to win the half-pipe event at Vancouver, becoming only the fourth Australian ever to score gold at a Winter Olympics. She missed out by 0.25 of a point on nabbing gold in the half-pipe at Sochi, but her silver medal earned her the respected title of Australia’s most successful female Winter Olympian. But it’s not all ski slopes and halfpipes, Torah recently turned her had to fashion design, collaborating on her Bright Edition line of clothing with Roxy. The range features snowboards, accessories and outerwear in bright (boom tish!) and fun prints.

Right now, Bright is spending the winter right where she’s at home, on the ski slopes of Thredbo. We caught up with her to share her perfect Sunday morning, which involves more sun than it does snow. Oh, and in case you’re wondering, she’s every bit as lovely as you’d imagine.

1. What are you eating?

Eggs, avocado, sauteed spinach and mushrooms (all the good stuff!) from one of my favourite cafes, Pure Wholefoods in Manly.

2. What are you listening to?

Mumford & Sons and Beyonce - always Beyonce!

3. What are you doing?

When I'm not at the snow, I love being by the ocean. I'd go for an early morning surf, come back have a nap on the verandah, hang out with friends. Then do some reading, listen to music and go for an afternoon hike. I like doing the Manly to Shelley Beach walk.

4. What are you wearing?

I'm barefeet with the sand between my toes, and a flowy beachdress.
