Gossip blogger Perez Hilton is a father for the third time via surrogacy.

Celebrity blogger and television personality Perez Hilton has welcomed his third child, a baby girl called Mayte Amor, into the world.

“She was born on Wednesday, October 4th at 3:26 PM – weighing seven pounds and four ounces; measuring 20 inches long; and she’s perfect,” Perez posted to Instagram alongside an image of he, his new daughter and his mother.

This is Hilton’s third child via surrogate, with a name beginning with ‘M’. The single dad also has a son, Mario Armando Lavandeira III, who is four, and another daughter Mia Alma Lavendeira, aged two.

“I am beaming with joy and pride as I share with you that my family has grown yet again,” Hilton’s announcement post read. “Last week my son and daughter welcomed a sister into the world!”

In Hilton’s case, the name Mayte came via a combination of her grandparents’ names, Mario and Teresita.

“Their love will forever flow through her and protect her and all of my kids,” Hilton’s Instagram post reads.

Traditionally, ‘Mayte’ is a Spanish name, that – according to Behind The Name stems from ‘Mother Theresa’. It was also a basque name, and meant “lovable”. ‘Amore’ is Italian, which also means love.

Hilton thanked the surrogate who gave him the “greatest gift anyone could ever receive”. He also made a political statement regarding the legality of surrogacy in America.

“There are still many states that, sadly, prohibit surrogacy and I hope to use my voice to advocate for making it legal across the country,” he wrote. “Thank you to all the surrogates who give so selflessly and whose kindness is inspiring!”

In a later video, Hilton said Mayte Amor was the heaviest of his children at birth, to which the little girl started to cry – “No girl likes to hear that,” Hilton joked.

He also added the newborn arrived one week late: “Like a true diva.”
