You've been doing it all wrong: peeling a banana

It’s bananas how easy this trick is, people

Look, this domestic goddess is still spinning from learning that it’s possible to peel a hard-boiled egg without picking off every little bit of shell with scalding fingertips. I’m still trying to decide what to do with all the time that life lesson has bought me.

And now this. Bananas. I peel at least one every day. They are my daughter’s favourite post-swimming snack, and my son’s favourite thing to say he wants (‘Nana!’) and then not eat.

So why do I mangle every one I peel? The top bit won’t break off cleanly, I squish the end, making it all slimy and icky and destined to turn the kids off, rather than encouraging them to eat something that actually grew on a tree.

Until now. Peel a banana like a monkey. Why hadn’t I thought of that before? Maybe because unlike the helpful man in this video, I don’t have a friend called Britney who is down with what the monkeys are doing.

Watch and learn.

Did you know this trick?
