Open post - what's on your mind?

It’s time for me to tell you about the past week at Mamamia and you to discuss ANYTHING that’s on your mind. Questions, vents, rants, raves, observations and anything at all really. Chat amongst yourselves. Here’s what we’ve been up to….

The make-up

.

I love this shot Rick took at our desk. So clever. As is this travel make-up brush kit by Bloom which I bought this week. So cool. I’ve become quite fixated with brushes – I even use one to put on my foundation – and I’ve just started using one to put on my concealer. And I’ve got a bit of travel coming up in the next few months so this is going to be handy dandy. This is the folded out version but it all folds into a very compact little rectangle.

The flu shot

.

My eldest child went down hard with the flu last week so I hot-footed it to the doctor for a flu shot.

Him: “Shall I just give you the normal shot?”
Me: “Are there options? Like ice-cream?”
Him: “Well, I can do the deluxe premium version with baby needles, lying down and topical anaesthetic. Or just pull it out of the fridge, up to you.”

Me: “I’m in a hurry. The fridge will be fine.”

And it was. I barely felt it. Apparently, some people are so scared of needles, they need the deluxe version of their jab. I used to be like that as a kid. Grew out of it. Now I’m THIS TOUGH.  Germs? BE GONE you wretched little fuckers.

It wasn’t even raining much this week but Lana was so chuffed with her new toys she took them for a spin anyway.

Please do not leave a comment about how pregnant or unpregnant Nicky looks. The poor love has been dealing with unwanted observations about her size and shape for 6 long months and she is ready to reach through the computer and punch you in the face if you so much as MENTION IT. I think she looks a treat. Not many people could pull off a hat like that, let alone with a scarf and flats.

Props to you, girlfriend.

The tea stash

Oh look admittedly this is ridiculous. I am like a squirrel storing tea for winter. Or summer. Autumn also. Because you never know WHEN SUPERMARKETS MIGHT RUN OUT.

Many people have noticed that there is a large teacup in pretty much every week’s post and now you know why. WE HAVE A SHITLOAD OF TEA TO DRINK.

The deputy editor

It’s a wonderful week when the sublime Bec Sparrow wings her way up from the Adelaide MM office (aka her house) to join us for a couple of days.

The girl knows how to work a stripey top, a new haircut and the most glorious energy you can imagine.

With home dramas making me late, I dashed into Zoe’s Amazing Face launch…..just as everyone was leaving. Terrific. Mortified. Well, I still bought 4 books, got Zo to sign them and high-fived her mother Gerda. We quietly (Ok loudly) congratulated ourselves for having made Zoe everything she is today (cough) and I scoffed a few teeny tiny pikelets, something small, eggy and delicious and a little cup of bircher muesli with grated apple and orange rind, before kissing Zoe half to pieces and leaving with the last of the stragglers.

It was quite the crowd so I persuaded Zoe’s publicist Kim (who was also my publicist for Mia Culpa. Zoe and I don’t just share a love of Hamish Blake – oh wait, did I say that out loud? – we also share a magnificent publisher in Kirsten Abbott from Penguin) to hand over these snaps so you can check out what happened before I arrived. Me too. You can now buy Amazing Face HERE. If there are any copies left.

The photos are by Nick May, and the launch was held at Seasonal Concepts.

How is your week going?
