Polina Buckley's desperate search for her boyfriend ended in heartbreak.

‘You are and always will be the love of my life.’

In the aftermath of the horrific Paris attacks yesterday, victims are slowly being identified.

Images and names are trickling through media outlets, and people around the world are breathlessly refreshing websites in the hope they don’t see the face of their loved one appear.

For those who haven’t receieved a reassuring phonecall, and have been drowned in silence, it’s a process so painful it’s incomprehensible.

Out of desperation some people took to Twitter, asking for the public to help them search. Feeds were littered with photos of sisters, sons, uncles, wives, boyfriends.

One of the faces was Nick Alexander’s. A British merch manager. A son, a brother, a boyfriend.

Heartbreakingly, Polina Buckley ended her frantic search for Nick last night, when news broke that ‘the love of her life’ was one of the 129 people tragically lost.

Reportedly, Nick died in the attack at the Bataclan concert hall. He was just 36 years old.

In his memory, Polina posted a string of tweets. A photo of the couple kissing, and one with Nick smiling at the camera while Polina affectionately pecked his cheek. Below, a hashtag read #iwillalwaysloveyou.

Captioning one photo “sleep tight, my sweet prince”, Polina has since visited the French embassy in New York to honour her boyfriend.

Nick’s family has released a statement confirming his passing.

“It is with huge sorrow that we can confirm that our beloved Nick lost his life at the Bataclan last night. Nick was not just our brother, son and uncle; he was everyone’s best friend – generous, funny and fiercely loyal.”

“Nick died doing the job he loved and we take great comfort in knowing how much he was cherished by his friends around the world. Thank you for your thoughts and respect for our family at this difficult time. Peace and light.”

Last night the Eiffel tower’s lights were turned off in respect to those tragically lost in the attacks.

Our deepest condolences go out to Nick Alexander’s girlfriend, Polina, and his family.
