Bianca wanted to find the father of her child, so she posted an ad on Gumtree.

If you had a one-night stand and fell pregnant, how far would you go to find the father?

Perth woman Bianca Fazey and a fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) worker called Jeremy had a one night stand last April that resulted in a baby. Bianca couldn’t track the father down so resorted to a Gumtree ad to find him. But instead of locating the dad, she received a barrage of slut-shaming instead.

“I was at my wits’ end,” Fazey told the Daily Mail last December after she initially posted the ad.

“I tried finding him for months and felt pressured by a friend who was adamant I don’t give up despite exhausting all avenues.”

The ad Bianca posted on Gumtree that lead to a barrage of criticism.

The above ad simply explained the situation but prompted two days of abuse from Gumtree users before Fazey took it down.

“I stupidly put it up thinking no one would even see it but who knows what will happen, maybe I will get lucky,” she said.

“Unfortunately all I got was lots of judgement and idiots messaging me telling me they would be the father or pretending to be Jeremy.”

Fazey met Jeremy last April at a bar called ‘Harlem Wednesdays’. The pair spent the night together at the Rydges hotel but chose not to stay in touch. The man was believed to be in his mid-20’s, from Morely and on a week off from his FIFO job. Fazey described him as friendly and a “lovely gentleman.”

Bianca Fazey’s story captured the attention of not only Australian readers, but worldwide and it was when LAD Bible shared her story that the criticism became particularly harsh.

“When it was shared on the LAD bible page a lot of people made single-minded comments aimed at me, no one mentioned the guy was equally a part of me getting pregnant,” she told the Mail.

The criticism that hurt most though, was those coming from other women and other mothers.

“I was more mad at the amount of women (mums included) saying I shouldn’t go through with it,” she said.

“Sometimes I want to be like one of those people on Maury Povich screaming back at the audience because they have no clue what they’re booing about!”

It’s a story that proves, yet again, female sexuality is a taboo subject and it is largely unacceptable for women to have children outside of marriage.

In an interview with Channel 9 News, Fazey said her intention was simply to do the honourable thing by letting Jeremy know he had a son, and give him the opportunity to raise the child if he wished.

“I want him to know, OK look I’m growing a kid with your DNA in it, do you want to be a part of it or not?” she said.

The new mum also said many asked her why she didn’t abort the child, but for Fazey that wasn’t an option. In 2011 she was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome and told by doctors she would be unlikely to have children naturally. So when she found out she was pregnant she thought it may be her only chance to have a family.

“‘Even though I knew this guy had disappeared I didn’t want to give up my chance and I’m so grateful I didn’t,” the Daily Mail reported.

Despite the abuse the mother-of-one has received from strangers, she said she’s had overwhelming support from friends, family and her community of Jurien Bay, WA and because of that she’s confident she can raise her son, Logan, without the father coming forward.

“I’m not after him for the money, I’m not after him to go you need to be dad because we’re having a kid. When I made the decision, I knew it was going to be just me and Logan.”

She also said since giving birth to her baby boy Logan, she’s never been happier.

“It has changed my life and made me a happier, healthier person.

“I couldn’t be happier, I am looking forward to holding my little guy and raising him in a loving stable environment.”

Meanwhile, there’s still no sign of Jeremy from Morley.
