Oh George Brandis, so empathetic and concerned, if only you realized how irreparably distressing it is that you and your Government continue to disregard, or fight against, the validity of my relationship in the first place.
The ACT Government doesn't care about your relationship either. They are doing it now to score political points I've the coalition.
If the ACT government was fair dinkum about it, this legislation would have been introduced months ago when the ALP were still in power, but they knew the federal government, regardless of the party, would have to challenge the legislation in the high court.
Congratulations on being sucked in by devious ALP spin and point scoring.
Wow, why are you so nasty and rude in every single one of your comments? It's fine that you disagree with people and have different views to most, but you don't need to say everything so aggressively. It just makes you sound like an angry crazy person trolling, which undermines any sensible point you might be trying to make.
Harry, I have to agree with Jeez a bit on this one. There have been a number of times when you've had absolutely valid points to make, but they've kind of been lost because your tone / actual wording can be aggressive and / or condescending. Food for thought :)
I'm not angry, just cynical about political bluster.
The simple facts are just too convenient for words. Ask yourself, why was this not announced before the election? Why did they not do this in the prior session of parliament?
The answer is simple, it's nothing but political point scoring, and the ACT government knows that marriage legislation is covered by federal law, and it will not be constitutional. It's not rocket science.
I'm not being rude at all, you managed to do that yourself with a ridiculous accusation.
Finally, I'm actually pro gay marriage, but I'm dead set against tin pot governments like the ACT government, which is nothing more than a glorified council, make political points at the expense of homosexuals who they know will get the shits with the wrong people.
So don't tell me I'm rude when I'm not, you don't want to see me when I am being rude.
Re point 5, George Brandis you shit me to tears. Stay out of it and let people marry their loves.
Seriously. I'm sure it would be distressing for same sex couples to have their marriages invalidated but seeing it's the Coalition who aim to cause that distress, it's a bit empty for Brandis to try to sound like he's at all concerned about possible heartache. Jesus Christ.
Crap. It's the ACT government who are causing the distress because marriage is covered by the federal government, not state and territory governments. They should stick to law making for the things that they are constitutionally entitled to.
What's worse, the ACT Government knows full well they don't have the constitutional authority to pass such a law. They are just doing it to make the coalition look bad, and pretend they have the high moral ground. The opposite is the case, they are using homosexuals as unwitting pawns and I find the actions of the ACT Government to be beyond contempt.
