NEWS: One of the Paris gunmen has reportedly surrendered to police.

Update:

One of the suspects in the Paris attack on Charlie Hebdo magazine has surrendered to police, according to unconfirmed reports.

The youngest gunman, Hamyd Mourad, has reportedly now been arrested by police.
 
An AFP source said Mourad handed himself in to police on Wednesday at 11:00 pm (local time).
 
“He has been arrested and taken into custody,” another source reportedly said.

Police have identified the men as brothers Said Kouachi, Cherif Kouachi — French nationals born in the 10th arrondissement of Paris- and Hamyd MoMurad, 18, who is reportedly from Reims.

The deputy mayor told CNN the two older men are aged 32 and 34.

A police source said one of the men had been identified by his identity card which had been left in the getaway car. according to the ABC.

An official said the suspects were linked to a Yemeni terrorist network.

One of the brothers had previously been tried on terrorism charges, the ABC cites a police source as saying.

Cherif Kouachi was convicted in 2008 of terrorism charges for helping funnel fighters to Iraq’s insurgency, NBC News reports. He was reportedly sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Police have not confirmed reports that the men have been arrested, and the ABC reports an anti-terror operation is underway in the city of Reims, about two hours by car from Paris.

Members from France’s elite anti-terror unit surrounded an apartment building and there were reports a flat had been searched.

Live television pictures showed police Swat teams holding positions around the building.

Authorities in Reims said of the manhunt earlier today that the “suspects will either be able to escape or there will be a showdown”.

3000 police officers were searching for the men earlier today.
