UPDATE: The father of mass murderer Elliot Rodger has spoken about the gun massacre his son carried out.

Peter Rodger, who helped direct The Hunger Games, has spoken of his ‘inconceivable pain’ after his son killed six people yesterday, before killing himself.

The assistant director released a statement through his lawyer Alan Shifman, saying: “The Rodger family offers their deepest compassion and sympathy to the families involved in this terrible tragedy.

“We are experiencing the most inconceivable pain, and our hearts go out to everybody involved.”

The lawyer also revealed that the family called the police several weeks before the shooting, after they were deeply concerned when they discovered the YouTube videos Elliot had been posting, “regarding suicide and the killing of people”.

In another development, a 140-page manifesto by Elliot Rodger has been delivered to a TV station, which details how Rodger planned to commit his horrific crime.

Rodger called the document “My Twisted World”, and in it his state of mind is clearly revealed.

“All of those beautiful girls I’ve desired so much in my life, but can never have because they despise and loathe me, I will destroy,” Rodger wrote. He continued:

All of those popular people who live hedonistic lives of pleasure, I will destroy, because they never accepted me as one of them. I will kill them all and make them suffer, just as they have made me suffer. It is only fair.

I would have to kill my housemates to get them out of the way…In fact, I’d even enjoy stabbing them both to death while they slept.

His document first details how he planned to stab his house-mates, before discussing his “War on Women”.

I will punish all females for the crime of depriving me of sex. They have starved me of sex for my entire youth, and gave that pleasure to other men.

In doing so, they took many years of my life away.

I cannot kill every single female on earth, but I can deliver a devastating blow that will shake all of them to the core of their wicked hearts. I will attack the very girls who represent everything I hate in the female gender: The hottest sorority of UCSB.

… I will slaughter every single spoiled single stuck up blonde s**t I see…

Earlier today, three of the victims’ families came forward and identified their children as amongst those killed. Their names are Veronika Weiss and Katie Cooper, both 19, and Christopher Martinez, 20.

Katie Cooper, Veronika Weiss and Chris Martinez were killed during the shooting rampage.

Police have now also revealed a semi-automatic handgun was found next to Rodgers body, and in it over 400 rounds of unspent ammunition.

Richard Martinez, father of one of the 6 victims confirmed dead, has released an emotional statement to the public, asking “when will this insanity stop?”.

“Our family has a message for every parent out there: you don’t think it’ll happen to your child until it does,” he said, reading from a family statement.

“Chris was a really great kid, ask anyone who knew him. His death has left our family lost and broken.

“Why did Chris die? Chris died because of craven, irresponsible politicians and the NRA.

“They talk about gun rights. What about Chris’s right to live? When will this insanity stop? When will enough people say stop this madness? We don’t have to live like this.

“Too many have died. We should say to ourselves: ‘Not one more.”

Mamamia previously reported:

A 22-year old gunman has gone on a shooting rampage in Southern California, that has left more than seven people (including the shooter) dead, and up to seven others injured.

The shooting occurred over a 10-minute period, with the first call to emergency services occurring at 9:27 pm.

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff, Bill Brown, has said the shooting was a “mass murder situation,” with two separate shoot-outs occurring during altercations with police.

Witnesses claim that as emergency services rushed to revive the first lot of victims, more shots were fired. The shooter then crashed his car into a parked vehicle as he tried to flee from police.

Sheriff Brown confirmed the surviving victims are currently being treated for gunshot wounds, and trauma injuries.

At this stage, police believe the alleged gunman Elliot Rodger, acted alone.

He was a student enrolled in Santa Barbara City College.

A video has also emerged online of suspect Rodger claiming to be a virgin, and vowing to avenge all the girls who had ever rejected him.

You can watch the disturbing video below:

“Girls, all I’ve ever wanted was to love you and to be loved by you. I’ve wanted sex. I’ve wanted love, affection, adoration. You think I’m unworthy of it. That’s a crime that can never be forgiven. If I can’t have you girls, I will destroy you.”

“Tomorrow is the day of retribution, the day in which I will have my revenge against humanity, against all of you.

“For the last eight years of my life, ever since I hit puberty I’ve been forced to endure an existence of loneliness, rejection and unfulfilled desires all because girls have never been attracted to me.

“Girls gave their affection and sex and love to other men, but never to me.

“I’m 22 years old and still a virgin. I’ve never even kissed a girl.”

The lawyer for the Rodger family, Alan Schifman, has released a statement claiming Rodger was a high functioning student diagnosed with Aspergers syndrome. Apparently, Rodger was undergoing psychological treatment when the video was first posted to YouTube.

His family have also reported him to police in the past due to his alarming behaviour, and have revealed his difficultly making friends, and tendency to be bullied by classmates.
