Reports today that the Bali Nine duo could be executed within days.

It’s the news that so many of us have been dreading.

Reports have emerged that the Indonesian Attorney General’s office has sent letters to the prosecutors of all 10 prisoners on death row ordering them to prepare the executions.

It seems like the dreadful day has finally come with Australians Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran now expected to be killed within days.

AAP reports that the Australian and Nigerian embassies have confirmed receiving a letter asking them to go to Cilacap, the port closest to Nusakambangan, on Saturday.

News that the two may be executed in the next few days.

It is believed that they are going to be told the date for the execution.

Indonesia must give 72 hours before the executions take place.

AAP contacted the Indonesian Attorney-General’s spokesman Tony Spontana who confirmed letters to prosecutors advising them to prepare for the executions had been sent.

“The letter is for preparation, implementation and reporting after the execution,” Mr Spontana said.

He said the Attorney General was now waiting for the judicial review of Indonesian man Zainal Abidin to be rejected before going ahead with the executions but that they expected that to be finalised within days.

Fairfax Media quotes lawyer Karim Utomo, who represented Brazilian Marco Archer Cardoso Moreira who was killed in the January 18 executions, he said he believes the letters mean the executions would take place three days after the meeting, possibly Monday or Tuesday.

The Attorney General confirmed to the ABC that the last prisoner to be moved to Nusakambangan, Filipina Mary Jane Veloso, will be relocated there today.

Indonesian President Joko Widodo said earlier this week that the execution of the ten prisoners was “only a matter of time” pending the conclusion of their legal processes.

“When it will be done is no longer a question,” he said.

“It is only awaiting the conclusion of all procedures and the legal process, which I will not interfere in.”

A French man and Ghanaian man had their judicial reviews dismissed this week.

The French Government spoke out about the impending executions. With President Francois Hollande calling for the executions to be halted. He warned Indonesia on Wednesday that executing Frenchman, Serge Atlaoui would damage ties between the two nations.

The Mercy Campaign who have been calling for Chan and Sukumaran’s death sentence to be quashed said this morning’s news was worrying.

Chan and Sukumaran were sentenced to death in Indonesia for attempting to smuggle heroin home from Indonesia 10 years ago. Their clemency bid was denied and the Indonesian government said they had run out of legal options.
