A stolen newborn baby has been found - with a bizarre note attached to her body.

Strange but true.

A newborn baby girl snatched from a hospital has been located — in bizarre circumstances.

The little girl was taken on Sunday from MB Hospital in Rajasthan, India, according to the Hindustan Times.

It is understood the the thief, a middle aged woman, struck up a conversation with the child’s mother and grandmother before taking off with the baby minutes later.

CCTV footage showed a middle-aged woman clutching the baby close to her chest as she walked out of the hospital wearing a bright orange sari.

The Daily Mirror reports that, when doctors spotted her holding the child, the woman insisted she was taking the baby to her mother to be fed.

Police and hospital staff launched an appeal after the frightening incident, according to the Hindustan Times — and on Monday, 24 hours after being snatched, the little girl was located on the steps of a local temple.

Wrapped up safe and warm in a blanket, the little girl was discovered with in apology note left next to her.

It read:  “Give this child to the [hospital] nursery. Sorry”.

The thief has not yet been caught, although police believe the child-snatcher is a “well-educated” woman who lives locally.

The Daily Mirror reports that police are investigating claims that the thief lost her own baby during childbirth.

Remarkably, the tiny baby girl is believed to be in good health.

She remains in hospital, in the intensive care unit.
