What we learned about fashion from the stars in NYC and London.

For the past two weeks, fashionistas have descended on New York and London like mosquitoes on fresh skin for Fashion Week in each city. This is what we learned.

Helena Christensen showed metallics can work day or night – especially if you’re hanging with the rock gods:

Blondie's Debbie Harry - in a striped dress with a see-through cardigan at Kanye West's show - proved rock 'n' roll is eternally chic in the front row:

... and that age has nothing to do with style. Check out the 70-year-old Call Me singer at the Coach show in bright yellow accessories and leather:

She hit the street in fluoro specs and platform sandals:

Must-follow style lessons from the 93 year old fashionistas we adore.

Bette Midler (below with daughter Sophie von Haselberg) wore an embellished crown with a lace top and statement earrings, showing classy bling always works:

Style icon Iris Apfel let her fabulous accessories do all the talking:

Naomi Watts wore a vest and colour-blocked stripes in an edgy combo we didn't see coming:

Oscar winner Julia Roberts showed how to make a draped blazer look incredibly stylish:

Anna Wintour taught us that a good pair of sunnies and a structured dress always work:

Jerry Hall proved you can wear a jumpsuit at any age - even better if the jumpsuit is pink, and gives a glimpse of black bra:

Kate Moss matched her belt with her jacket and revealed coordination never goes astray:

Sienna Miller taught us it is possible to wear a green coat without looking like the Grinch:

And Lily Allen proved pink hair can look good with any colour - but works particularly well with frills and statement earrings:
