Melbourne Cup marks the unofficial start to the silly season, which means champagne, parties, more champagne and catching up with every single person you’ve ever met before December 25 clocks over.

It’s an intense time of year so the last thing you need is a high maintenance, time-consuming beauty routine so I’m going to show you how you can create two easy day to night makeup looks using just one eye and lip palette.

Whether you’re a low-key lady who just wants a couple of makeup tricks to look more ‘done up’ at night or want to switch up your makeup routine, read on for four simple day to night makeup looks.

Just as an FYI, you should know that this post is sponsored by Napoleon. But all opinions expressed by the author are 100% authentic and written in their own words.

Easy day to night makeup palettes (‘Imperial’ Limited-Edition Gift Collection)

LOOK 1: DAY.

Step one: using the neutral cream shadow in the Napoleon Perdis Prismatic Eye Shadow Quad ‘Imperial’, sweep the entire lid in this colour.

Step two: using the same brush apply a small amount of the brown to the outer corner of your eye, blend inwards.

Step three: dip an angled eyeliner brush into the black shade and draw on close to the lashes. This shadow is super easy to apply and great for eyeliner novices. Remember to lead with the shorter end of the brush for more control.

Step four: apply the pink shade of lip gloss to your lips. I mixed in a small amount of the pinky-brown too.

LOOK 1: NIGHT.

To take this look to night, it’s really just about building up the eye colour and adding a cat’s eye and a statement lip.

Step one: dip brush in the light brown shade and blend along your eye contour line.

Step two: using the charcoal shade work the shade onto the outer eye of your eye. The best way to create definition here is to dab the first brush, then blend towards the nose.

Step three: Dip brush into a little of the brown and charcoal shades and blend over any areas that need it.

Step four: You can use the black shadow as is or to turn your shadow into a liner use a nifty little product from Napoleon Perdis called Cake Eyeliner Sealer. Extend your eyeliner giving yourself a flick. Tip: create the flick with your eye open, hold an angled eyeliner brush, leading with the short end and in line with the end of your eyebrow. Press on and then fill in, if you don’t have taut eyelids anymore (sobs) fill in with your eye closed.

Step five: apply the dark red shade from the Prismatic Lip Quad in ‘Imperial’.

Step four: apply the same shade to your lips.

LOOK 2: NIGHT.

Step one: using a contour brush dip the brush in the metallic chocolate shade and apply to the outer corner of your eye along the contour line. Sweep it across and upwards to avoid a downcast looking eye.

Step two: dip a flat eyeshadow brush into gold shade and apply to the centre of your lid and blend. Then the gold shadow with Cake Eyeliner Sealer to make a metallic eyeliner and draw across the top lashline.

Step three: bring the chocolate shade down under your lower lashline.

Step four: dip a small flat brush into the silver and apply to the inner corner of your eye area. This is a trick celebrity make-up artists use to make eyes look brighter and pop on the red carpet.

Step five: dip a small flat brush into the silver and pale green and apply to the inner corner of your eye area.

Step six: apply mascara.

Step seven: apply the coral lipcolour or for something more dramatic, mix it with the dark pink for a bold lip look.
