Kim Kardashian mural appallingly defaced less than 24 hours after being painted.

Kim Kardashian mural on the side of a Melbourne building has been offensively defaced less than 24 hours after it was painted.

The artwork, painted by local street artist Mark Walls (AKA @lushsux), was a representation of the reality star’s latest nude mirror selfie which sent social media into a spin last week. Wanting to honour the already iconic image, Walls approached a business in the suburb of Cremorne with his concept, and was immediately lent a 30-feet-high wall of a building.

Upon posting a photo of his piece to Instagram, opinion on the artwork was confoundingly split. Some admonished it as yet another shine for a narcissist, others commented the figure was perfectly proportioned to Kim’s original photo, while others were concerned with the striking difference in the colour and appearance of Kim’s face and, if intentional, what that meant symbolically.

Unfortunately, Walls’ contentious piece was quickly vandalised with paint smears and a sexist slogan, all within 24 hours of the mural being completed. The artist took to Instagram last night to notify his thousands of fans the artwork had been destroyed by vandals.

The image is now covered in paint smears and the word ‘SLUT’ is scribbled across Kim’s lower torso.

The owner of the building wall, ‘Victor’, told Pedestrian TV that while he feels disappointed, he’s not overly surprised at the outcome.

“[I’m] pretty bummed, but it was a given, considering the subject matter.”

Should it be though? Just because someone is naked that doesn’t make them a slut.

Do you think the mural constitutes art? Or do you find a 30ft tall painting of a near-naked woman offensive?
