Weekend Watercooler: come have a chat

Welcome to your Monday outlet to talk about your weekend. What you watched, what you did, what you thought…..anything at all.

Not everyone has a workplace or a community with whom they can gather and debrief about their weekend (and even if you do, there are some things you can’t always discuss freely) so here it is.

Some of the things that caught our attention:

Lance Armstrong. Drug cheat or misunderstood?

Lance Armstrong has given up his fight against doping charges and has immediately been stripped of his 7 Tour de France titles.

The World Anti-Doping Agency says that Armstrong’s decision not to challenge is being interpreted as an admission of guilt, while others are arguing that Armstrong is simply sick of defending his legacy in the face of what his supporters call a ‘witch hunt’.

You can read more about Lance Armstrong on our sister site, iVillage.com.au, here.

In other Armstrong news, the first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong has died, aged 82 after complications due to heart surgery.

60 Minutes aired a pretty excrutiating interview with Samantha Brick – the British woman famous for declaring other women hate her because she’s beautiful. Let’s not go there again.

Samantha Brick, ‘trophy wife’ and her husband. With a gun.

However. This interview proved that Samantha isn’t just a one trick outrage pony. She also wants you to know about her marriage to a French dude she proudly proclaims to be a chauvinist.

He makes her ride an exercise bike while he watches to keep her weight down and she has to cook him a 5 course lunch every day followed by a lavender oil head massage.

It’s unclear what she gets in return but she seems very happy with the arrangement, insisting she’s a ‘trophy wife’ as if that’s somehow a good thing. Points to Samantha for self-esteem. It’s so very high.

Germaine’s response was hilarious. You can watch the interview here.

And Howzat! concluded with a ripper 2 hour show that even non-cricket fans could get into. What a performance by Lachy Hulme as Kerry Packer.

You know how committed he was to the role? He got collagen in his lips, put on 20kg and shaved his hairline halfway back on his head to mimic KP. Amazing performance. Fantastic show.

So what caught your attention? The good? The bad? The ugly? From pop culture to personal, funny things your kids said, new clothes you bought or delicious things you ate or cooked…..speak up.
