Not everyone has a workplace or a community with whom they can gather and debrief about their weekend (and even if you do, there are some things you can’t always discuss freely) so here it is.
Some of the things that caught our attention:
Lance Armstrong has given up his fight against doping charges and has immediately been stripped of his 7 Tour de France titles.
The World Anti-Doping Agency says that Armstrong’s decision not to challenge is being interpreted as an admission of guilt, while others are arguing that Armstrong is simply sick of defending his legacy in the face of what his supporters call a ‘witch hunt’.

In other Armstrong news, the first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong has died, aged 82 after complications due to heart surgery.
60 Minutes aired a pretty excrutiating interview with Samantha Brick – the British woman famous for declaring other women hate her because she’s beautiful. Let’s not go there again.

my weekend...
spent some time with my bestie who is going through a hellish breakup 7 weeks out from the day she was meant to be getting married :( its going to be a very hard few months for her and i just want to be there for her.
had a couple of nights of broken sleep as my toddler is sick again...roll on spring, so sick of colds and flu!!
we are mid way through our first round of fertility treatment. we have done this all before, i know it could take months/years, remembering how stressed out and emotional i got last time.
i thought we went into this calmly and rationally- even tho its already been a year with no success trying to conceive baby #2 naturally ive been quite calm about it so i thought i was all over it - WRONG. the treatment adds a whole new layer of urgency and desperation to my mindset! im already itching to do pregnancy tests though its far too early, and googling like a madman
Well, I have to say goodbye to Mamamia! I have so enjoyed reading the posts and the comments. I have occasionally posted a comment myself if I felt a point hadn't already been covered.
BUT...Mamamia is not good for my mental health!! The last three or so weeks I have spent too much time on here. My house has become really messy and my one year old has been watching television (something I swore I would never allow. He's usually only been watching 30 mins a day in the last 3 weeks but today it was 60!!! And I feel sick with guilt and fear that he'll turn into one of those children who can't play or amuse themselves because they want the television on!)
Aside from the guilt factor over the television, the washing and dishes pile up each day and even thought I get them done eventually before bed each night I just don't feel good about being in a disorganised space. Messy house, messy mind for me.
I feel a bit like I've lost control the last few weeks and it is because of this site. It's so good! And addictive! I secretly love reading the comments where things get a bit heated. And I love it when Mia replies to things. And when Bec Sparrow or Kate Hunter comment because their comments are really thoughtful and insightful.
But, I am just not an internet person. Time on the internet is time I'll never get back.
So farewell all! Thank you for all your interesting comments and Mia and staff, thank you for your site! I think the next few days going cold-turkey are going to HURT but I am determined to get my life back pre-Mamamia! Bye! xoxo

Also, try not to feel guilty about the TV thing..... A bit of TV (even 60 mins) never killed anyone! EVERYTHING in moderation! :)

Michelle I'm in the same kind of boat as you. When I first started reading Mamamia, it was one or 2 stories that would come through a day, and yeah I had time to read one or 2 stories. But now Mamamia is daily - even on weekends - and there's like 5 or so stories every day and they are ALL interesting/worthy of reading, but it's just got all too much, and if I start I don't stop and I'm spending WAY too much time on the net reading everything from Mamamia. The site is now huge, it's gone to epic proportions, and I say a HUGE congrats to Mia and her fabulous team for it, but like Michelle I feel that I too will have to rip myself away. I just don't have the time to read all of the stories and I'm too weak willed to try and limit it - the titles gets me in every time. *sob*
Michelle! Don't leave after saying such lovely things. We've loved having you and we can help you manage that addiction. After all, they say admitting you have a problem is the first step right! Don't be a stranger. Xx
i am in a similar position and the funny thing is i need mamamia to keep me in the loop to what is going on and i store for those few occasions that i go out for catch up with my friends that have lives and when i can i contribute this knowledge just like i know about everything that is current and going on....my standard day at the moment if i am home is get my daughters off to school come home clean and play with my toddler give her a little focus time put her down for a sleep and the next solid hour is mamamia catch up time, after that its more toddler time and housework......i also get update emails on my phone so if i have a spare few minutes say waiting in the car for dance class to finish i sneak in some mamamia then too. life is to short to feel guilty about something that keeps me in the loop.
