A 30-year-old cafe worker left her house on a rainy night. She hasn't been seen since.

On June 23, cafe worker Emma Gover walked out of her house and into the cold night. She disappeared without a trace, with nothing but the clothes on her back.

Nine days on, police are still desperately searching for the 30-year-old from Toowoomba, as her family struggles to comprehend what might have happened to her.

Emma, a part-time employee of Northpoint Coffee Club, was last seen on Nichols Rd in Highfields at about 6:45pm on June 23.

Police are currently investigating the possibility that she may have travelled to New South Wales, possibly with other people.

Inspector Stephen Angus told Toowoomba newspaper The Chronicle that finding Emma was “a matter of urgency” for Queensland police.

“She’s what we call a high-risk missing person,” he said.

“As a consequence of the situation, the search has been escalated through to a higher level.”

Emma’s father, Ken Gover, told The Chronicle that his daughter’s disappearance was highly out of character.

“We’re all very concerned. She left her car behind, with her car keys and all her personal effects still in the house,” he said.

“We get on very well and normally at night we’d be cooking dinner, having a cup of tea and talking about how each other’s day was.

“We’re all very worried.”

Emma is described as about 165cm tall, slim, with brown eyes and brown hair.

She was last seen wearing a thick grey cardigan with black knew-length tights, brown boots and a scarf.
