Mischa Barton set to join 'Dancing with the Stars' next season.

Actress Mischa Barton is best known for her role as the skinny, rich and beautiful Marissa Cooper on The OC in the early 2000’s. She was THE ‘it’ girl, as her character got into bad boys, then alcohol, then drugs, then girls, then other boys, and then died with a ridiculously sad Imogen Heap version of Hallelujah playing in the background. (That was a big deal in 2005, before shows like Game of Thrones ruined our souls and convinced us to expect that every character we emotionally invested in would die).

She was beautiful even in death *sheds tear*. Image courtesy of Fox.

But since then, she's kind of...disappeared, save for a random DUI in 2007, and a string of roles in not-so successful films.

Until now.

Because ET Online has just confirmed that Mischa Barton, now 30, has signed on to the 22nd season of Dancing with the Stars.

Barton follows a tough act, after our very own Bindi Irwin took out the last season of the US reality dance competition late last year.

Confirmed contestants for this season include Full House actress Jodie Sweetin, The Real Housewives of Atlanta's Kim Fields, a guy from America's Next Top Model that no one has ever heard of, and an equally as unfamiliar meteorologist from Good Morning America.

The full line-up, however, will be announced on March 8. We wonder if we'll be able to ride to coattails of another Aussie success story?
