The 10,000-year-old health boost you already have in your fridge

Put DOWN the kale and turn OFF the blender. There’s a new celebrity health craze, and you’ve already got the main ingredient in your fridge.

It’s vinegar.

Megan Fox drinks a combination of apple cider vinegar and water claiming it cleans out her system while Gwenyth Paltrow and Madonna are advocates of fermented tonics.

Cherub slash teacup designer slash #cleaneater Miranda Kerr likes to drizzle it on her salad, which was a thing that people already did but mostly for the taste.

Nutritionist Katy Mason from The Nutri Centre told The Daily Mail that vinegar has been used for centuries for many purposes, pickling, cleaning, as a condiment and for health.

Apple cider vinegar is a bit of a cure-all. You can use it to aid digestion, condition your hair, and apparently even as a bruise treatment. Just be careful about how you drink it, because while your gut might love it, your teeth do not. Try sipping it with a straw in the mornings to avoid acid wear.

The earliest use of vinegar dates back 10,000 years, when it was a popular remedy in ancient Chinese medicine.

For a little more insight into what apple cider vinegar could (potentially, probably not) do for your stomach and skin, let’s take a tour through Miranda Kerr’s Instagram.

Would you give ferments and vinegar a go or is this just another health fad?
