Man arrested in relation to the death of 2 year old Nikki Francis-Coslovich.

UPDATE:

According to Nine News, Homicide Squad Detectives have arrested a Victorian man in regards to the two-year-old’s death this morning.

No details about the man have been released.

The revelation comes after a chilling text message sent nine days before Nikki Francis-Coslovich’s disappearance was revealed.

The Herald Sun reported that Nikki’s father Nicholas text messaged a family services worker saying, “I need to get the girls out of that house and fast … I must save my girls b4 its too late. Pls help me.”

According to The Herald Sun, Nikki’s injuries included blunt-force trauma and significant bruising.

Since her death, information has slowly trickled out about the case that reveals the living conditions faced by Nikki.

The Age reports that the on-again-off-again partner of Nikki’s mother, John Torney, was due to face Mildura Magistrates Court yesterday in relation to a criminal matter that does not involve children.

Neighbours had reported that Peta-Ann Francis and John Torney, who lives in a separate house, had a volatile relationship.

Nicholas Coslovich, Nikki’s father was also due to appear at the same court, relating to a court-ordered diversion program.

He told Fairfax Media he was charged in relation to “smacking” Nikki’s oldest sister, an offence that was reported to police through her school.

The Age reports that Mr Coslovich had not been spoken to by police on Wednesday. He said he had not seen the girls for a month as he had been denied access.

More to come.

Nikki was two years old.

She had blonde, curly hair. She still sucked her dummy.

And two days ago, the little girl was found dead in a cavity of her parent’s ceiling.

Nikki’s mother Peta reported her daughter missing just a few hours before the 2-year-old’s body was found.

According to Daily Telegraph, Ms Francis put her down for a nap and returned three hours later to find her gone from her bed.

This sparked a 200 person hunt around Mildura by friends and neighbours.

In the end, it was a policeman who descended from a ceiling cavity and announced he had found her body.

The Herald Sun reported that it was fingerprints on the entrance to the cavity that led to the discovery.

As of yet, police haven’t revealed how Nikki died.

Acting Inspector Rebecca Olsen explained, “There’s still a lot more information gathering that needs to go on. This is going to be a very complex investigation and they’re going to be working very hard to resolve this.”

However, Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton confirmed, “It’s a very tragic case – one that we do view as suspicious and we expect to be taking some actions once we have done the proper analysis of the results of the autopsy” according to The Daily Telegraph.

Ashton continued, “I would expect further developments in the next day or two.”

Speaking to Fairfax Media, Nikki’s father Nicholas Coslovich talked about his distress over the discovery.

“She was the kind of little girl that would walk into a room and light it up,” Coslovich said.

“If someone was feeling down or having a bad day she’d give them a big hug and everything would be OK. It’s the purest little life to take away.”

“I’m going to miss the heck out of her.”

Nikki’s mother and her mother’s partner, John Torney, are both assisting police in their enquiry into this tragic death.

Although no details have been released, media reports are circulating that there is a possibility Nikki died at the hands of domestic violence.

No matter the circumstances, we hope an answer is found for those grieving over the death of the young girl with the bubbly personality.
