FLUFF: Melanie Griffith wants you to know she's over Antonio.

We knew this time would come. We just didn’t think it would be so soon.

Melanie Griffith has removed the ‘Antonio’ from her famous ‘Antonio’ tattoo on her right arm. Is it so very wrong that this makes us want to weep sad, salty tears? That tattoo is a sign of her love for her soon-to-be ex-husband Antonio Banderas. It almost makes us want to get their faces tattooed on our faces – just to remember their love by, you know.

Griffith, 56, who was attending an Italian Film Festival at Taormina with pal Eva Longoria, flashed her newly removed tattoo in a sleeveless dress with buddy Eva Longoria:

They’re on a mountain so it’s even more dramatic.

Look closely.

Closer….

It’s basically GONE:

If you’re emotionally prepared, compare that photo to this one… When Antonio was still in her heart.

The ‘Working Girl‘ star first got the tattoo in 1998, two years after she married Spanish actor Banderas – and it has proudly been on display ever since. But we’re guessing things got a little awkward after she filed for divorce on the 5th of June citing “irreconcilable differences”.

The couple announced in a joint statement:

We have thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost twenty years marriage in a loving and friendly manner honoring and respecting each other, our family and friends and the beautiful time we have spent together. – Melanie & Antonio”

Griffith and Banderas met in 1995 on the set of Two Much, and were married the next year. Since then, they have primarily worked together in philanthropy, resulting in the couple receiving the Stella Adler Angel Award in 2002.
