Just because Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding was one of the most watched and intricately planned ceremonies of the year, doesn’t mean it was immune from a last minute hiccup.

Family dramas aside, in a series of interviews recorded for ‘A Royal Wedding: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’ , an exhibit currently on display at Windsor Castle, the couple shared one detail that didn’t go according to plan, and it has to do with Meghan’s bouquet.

Right after the royal wedding, Kensington Palace announced that Harry personally picked the forget-me-nots that Meghan held on her wedding day –  flowers that were reportedly Princess Diana’s favourite.

“We have a very small garden here that we had been planting things in the fall for and what was really special, I think, was that the morning of the wedding Harry went in and he picked some flowers to go into my bouquet, which was really beautiful and something that makes it sentimental and really meaningful,” says Meghan in one of the interviews, as described by Vanity Fair.

Despite this, there weren't quite enough flowers to sufficiently fill the bouquet, says Harry.

"We didn’t have as many flowers in our little garden as we had hoped for because I think it snowed at Easter! That kind of ruined the whole thing!”

Ahh weather, you fickle fiend.

In the end, Meghan's bouquet still looked beautiful, and included a mix of sweet pea, lily of the valley, astilbe, jasmine, astrantia as well as myrtle, which symbolises love and hope.

And while their minor hiccup was no drunk aunt yelling at everyone, or a distant relative throwing a chair, it's nice to know that even for royalty, things don't always go to plan.
