How Meghan Markle will spend her first birthday as a royal.

Since she married Prince Harry in May this year, Meghan Markle has been busy settling into the royal family. She’s been learning about all the rules she has to follow: how she must dress, how she should sit, what foods she cannot eat.

It’s fair to say her life has changed quite a bit – and now one of her first milestones is approaching.

This Saturday, August 4, will be Meghan’s first birthday as the Duchess of Sussex.

But rather than celebrating her 37th birthday with drinks and dinner, or on a private island like Prince George, the Duchess will be attending the wedding of one of Harry’s childhood friend’s, Charlie Van Straubenzee.

The news was confirmed by royal photographer Tim Rooke, who tweeted about the event.

“Unfortunately I will be missing the wedding of Charlie Van Straubenzee and Daisy Jenks where Prince Harry will be best man on August 4th in Churt Surrey as I will be on the beach. Can’t do everything!” he wrote.

According to Elle magazine, Harry and Charlie have been friends since they attended Ludgrove Prep School in together and Charlie is reportedly godfather to Princess Charlotte.

Although the big day won’t be all about her, we have no doubt Prince Harry will go out of his way to make sure his wife’s day is special. Plus at least we know there will be drinks, dancing and cake.
