"It kills me." Married At First Sight's Nadia gives insight to her decision about Anthony.

Married At First Sight viewers let out a collective “Nooo!” when Nadia chose to recommit to Anthony as the show’s series draws to a close.

After all, Anthony had called his wife “frigid”, sought to control her and their relationship and constantly redirected talk of Nadia back to himself.

It seemed absurd that Nadia would choose to continue a relationship with a man who she didn’t even seem to like all that much – and yet she did.

Now, the 36-year-old flight attendant has given us an insight into her decision to stay with the man who many dubbed this year’s “villain”.

Nadia hinted that audiences may have been presented with a different version of Anthony and their relationship to the one she experienced.

“I’m aware as to how things can be portrayed or edited on TV,” Nadia told TheFIX.

“Things will come out as they do, people will interpret things as they will, that’s the price you pay for putting your love life on a national platform.”

During Sunday night’s episode, where she declared her commitment to the racing commentator, Nadia voiced her frustration that she “felt unheard, like my opinion or voice didn’t matter”.

However, she then told him “the good outweighs the bad”.

“I’ve realised my home is with you,” she said.

In a post-ceremony interview available to view on 9Now, the couple spoke of challenges that lay ahead, including the distance between the Sydney-sider and the Brisbanian.

"I think the future holds a lot of challenges. Absolutely," Nadia told the camera with her beau's arm around her.

"We've come this far. If the wheels were going to have come off they would have. And I'm surprised that they didn't."

As were we Nadia. As were we.

Nadia told TheFIX how her childhood had shaped her understanding of "relationship goals" and she had to overcome not having a happy parental partnership to model on.

"I didn't grow up with a father, I grew up with a very independent mother, and my family is very female orientated," she said.

"And it kills me because they're so fiercely independent that it makes it hard to make yourself vulnerable in a relationship.

"It's not like I looked at my family and said that's the goal. I would've loved to have had a father and a mother and a beautiful balanced household because that would've given me that sense of that's where I want to be, that's where my relationship goals are. But I didn't have that."

The reality TV star countered any claims she was on the show seeking fame, suggesting that if she wanted to take an "easy road" to modelling success, she could have taken her "clothes off".

"At the end of the day, I was single and I hadn't found Mr Right yet. Fame is certainly not the reason I came onto this show."
