A NSW man has allegedly doused his partner in petrol during an argument.

A man has been charged after allegedly dousing a woman with petrol during a domestic dispute on the NSW Central Coast.

Police allege the couple, both 45, became involved in an argument about 3am on Sunday at a home in Woy Woy, during which the man ripped his partner’s earrings out before walking out.

He is alleged to have bought petrol from a nearby service station, returned to the house, thrown the flammable liquid on her and at the front of the house and threatened to light it.

Some of the petrol landed in the woman’s eye and caused a burning sensation, police said.

Officers were called and arrested the man, later charging him with assault and intimidation, as well as drug possession after a small amount of cannabis was allegedly found.

Paramedics treated the woman at the scene and took her to Gosford Hospital for further treatment.

The man was bailed to face Gosford Court on Tuesday.
