Here's exactly what Lupita Nyong'o puts on her face

Sadly, we can’t all be Lupita Nyong’o – but thanks to some insider info, we can at least recreate the awesome makeup she wore to the Council of Fashion Designers of America Awards on Monday.

Hurrah!

Makeup artist Nick Barose has very considerately posted the tricks and tools he used to create the 12 Years a Slave star’s striking CFDA look on Instagram.

It turns out Lupita's metallic electric blue eyelids were inspired by Princess Elizabeth of Toro, and involved "playing with the crease with fun pastels, shimmering blue and tons of mascara".

Nick used a limited edition Colour Design Palette by Lancome (pictured below) and applied it wet to create a dramatic painted-on effect.

Nick's advice for eyes that pop? "Try putting fun colours in the crease this summer, it's more fun than just wearing on lids. Why be regular?" Fun colours in the crease, apply shadow wet - got it.

Just add an Academy Award and a fabulous designer wardrobe and bam! You're practically Lupita.

As an aside, we're really enjoying this trend of A-list makeup artists sharing their secrets with those of us at the opposite end of the alphabet - first we learned how to recreate Kim Kardashian's wedding makeup, and now this. More! More!
