ABC News has released the full video depicting the moment search and rescue teams located Luke Shambrook — an 11-year-old who disappeared from his campsite near Lake Eildon, Victoria.

The moving clip, filmed from the helicopter which first sighted Luke, shows the team spotting and then struggling to zoom in on the boy.

A lost and confused Luke appears to look straight down the barrel of the camera before teams on the ground rush to the boy, giving him medical attention and blankets.

Acting Seargant Brad Pascoe said of the moment:

“I just, out of the corner of my eye, caught a little flash of something. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to make me get the guys to turn the aircraft around and have a further look.

“As we got closer and were able to have a better look at him, we saw that it was a person on the ground and we were able to train the camera in and confirm that it was actually Luke.

“All of us in the crew are parents ourselves and we can only imagine what the parents of Luke have been going through. It’s just such a reward for everybody’s efforts.”
