Lost in translation: 28 signs that have us weeping with laughter.

The English language is a peculiar one. It is particularly difficult to translate into from another language because basically, it makes no sense. English makes up its own phonetic rules (try to make sense of ‘thought’ versus ‘though’ or ‘damn’ versus ‘dam’). There’s NO LOGIC!!

And that’s why efforts to translate into English from another language can sometimes go very very wrong. And it can change their whole entire message:

1. Well okay, seeing as you asked so nicely.

2. Be careful out there y'all.

3. Nope, still can't figure out how these two relate. But please be kind to the moose.

4. Well *that's* better than a 5 per cent discount.

5. Wrong shop pal. The massage parlour is down the lane.

6. So no fun. Got it.

7. I guess I'll just go with option one then?

8. Yeah, that's right, they just made up a new word. What are you going to do about it?

9. You did what?

10. Not one to serve to mum.

11. Acid trip optional.

12. Perhaps in your next life.

13. Wait, is that Charlie Sheen?

14. Well okay then, if you insist.

15. One will, since one asked so nicely.

16. Well, at least it's fresh...

17. Many thanks. Choking the toilet bowl is the WORST.

18. I'm actually not sure this is lost in translation.

19. Pesky kids.

20. Catch-22.

21. Sweet dreams tiny grass.

22. All we're saying is that if you are going to fall down, please just go about it carefully.

23. Piss. Who knew it was so lethal.

24. Has anyone asked Sue about this?

25. And the horse they rode in on.

26. Just present your octopus and this will all go away.

27. Who knew there was an understudy?

28. Actually, no, I'm good thanks.
