The little gold statue ceremony has just wrapped up for another year and the Gold Logie was awarded to *** drum roll please***

Grant Denyer!

The host of Family Feud was up against Jessica Marais, Rodger Corser, Amanda Keller, Andrew Winter and Tracy Grimshaw for the award for the Most Popular Personality on Australian Television.

Earlier in the night, Denyer snagged the award for Most Popular Presenter for hosting Ten’s Family Feud, a show which was recently cancelled.

“Wow,” Denyer said on stage during his acceptance speech. “Family Feud is not even on television anymore. How awkward? You should see the faces on the Ten executives table at the moment right now. Close your mouths or your chicken might fall out.”

However, it didn’t seem to matter that the show had recently wrapped, with viewers across Australia naming him the most popular person on television.

During his emotional acceptance speech, the 40-year-old father of two thanked his wife Cheryl Denyer, who was sitting in the audience, and said that Family Feud was a show that had meant so much to him.

The emotional moment in Denyer’s acceptance speech was the moment when he talked about how the long-running show had come along during a difficult time in his life.

“It gave me a ladder out of that hole,” he said on stage as tears appeared in his eyes. “It’s never too late to improve yourself, to be kind to people and you can always be a better you.  Family Feud, thank you so much, you saved me.”
