A Survivor fling and lots of 'adventures': What we know about our new Bachelor, Locky Gilbert.

Australian Survivor star Locklan ‘Locky’ Gilbert will be the man handing out roses on The Bachelor 2020.

The 30-year-old adventure guide, who is an experienced cave diver, base jumper, mountaineer and athlete will take up a new challenge on screen this year: Finding love.

“I’m pretty content with my life at the moment. I go on these crazy adventures, but I’d love someone to share the memories with,” he said about the opportunity.

“I’ve got best friends, but I want to find that one best friend that I can spend the rest of my life with. This is an amazing opportunity to hopefully find someone special at the end.”

Locky, who’s based in Perth, says he’s a hopeless romantic who’s looking for a driven, outdoorsy woman with a sense of adventure.

We’ll become very familiar with Locky when The Bachelor airs in a few months time, but this is everything we know about him so far:

The Bachelor Australia.

Prior to the announcement, Locky hinted at his new role as Bachie, telling NW he would definitely be up for it.

“I’d love to give it a crack,” he said.

Lachie told 10 Daily he is still single because he hasn’t yet met the person who makes him want to settle down.

“I do want to settle down, but I don’t think I’m going to do that until I find the right person.”

Even though he’s adventurous, don’t expect every date on The Bachelor to involve adrenaline.

“I’m not big on restaurants and expensive things,” he said of his ideal date.

“Maybe go on a hike or a walk down along the beach, set up a really nice picnic, watch the sun go down, and maybe there’s an outdoor movie screen where we just sit and cuddle while watching a movie.”

On Instagram, Locky said there was no denying he’d “had some incredible, heart-stopping experiences for both work and fun, but this takes the cake”.

“I am beyond excited to be announced as this year’s Bachelor and cannot wait to share this epic romantic adventure with you all.”

Australian Survivor.

First appearing on screens in season four of Australian Survivor in 2017, Locky made it to the final five.

He was voted out of the current All Stars season in Tuesday night’s episode, following the merging of tribes.

Locky won’t be heading into the Bachie world totally blind: He became the unofficial All Stars Bachelor earlier in the Survivor season.

He was also linked to fellow contestant Brooke Jowett during filming in 2019.

“We definitely knew people knew we were close to each other. I think they were worried about the strategic side rather than the romantic side,” Locky told Confidential about their relationship.

“I did have a few people in my ear telling me to be smarter and to distance myself from him but I didn’t exactly listen,” added Brooke.

Brooke told the publication she wasn’t expecting to start something with Locky.

“I definitely didn’t enter the game thinking I would have a romance with anyone,” she said.

“In my opinion, strategically it’s not the smartest move to be so closely aligned to someone and more importantly, I knew that I’d have hairy legs and be extremely smelly in no time. It’s not really the ideal setting to meet your next man.”

His past relationships.

Despite being joined at the hip throughout the show, Locky and Brooke’s relationship didn’t translate into the real world after filming wrapped.

“He’s in Perth and Bali, and I’m in Melbourne. His work means he’d want me to go to him, but I won’t leave my family and my dog. I’m also really focused on my career,” Brooke told TV Week earlier this month.

“It’s a lot more difficult in the real world than it was out there.”

In early February, Locky told Perth Now he and Brooke still spoke “fairly often”, but he was definitely single.

Even so, Brooke told TV Week a reunion wasn’t completely off the cards.

“We haven’t completely written it off, it’s just very complicated with the distance. It’s such an obstacle.”

Oh.

We think this new announcement might make things even more complicated.

Before his fling with Brooke, Locky was in a long-term relationship with his ex-girlfriend Jordan Cayless, who appeared on the most recent season of Love Island Australia.

They seem to have broken up in early 2019.

An adventurous day job.

Locky runs a business called Four Elements Adventure, which runs guided tours all over Bali and surrounding islands.

“Locky has spent countless amounts of days exploring the Island, hidden gems and crazy adventures. He has then been able to hand-craft adventure tours that will get your heart racing, adrenaline pumping and change the way you see Indonesia,” the company’s Facebook page reads.

“We offer full day tours all over Bali and surrounding Islands, consisting of hidden waterfalls, snorkelling with manta rays on Nusa Penida, mountain biking through the Baliness jungle, hiking to the top of volcanos, scuba diving through WWII shipwrecks and so much more.”

Filming for the 2020 Bachelor season has already begun but we’re not yet sure when we’ll watch Locky greet 20+ women on the red carpet.

Last year’s season with Matt Agnew didn’t begin airing until late July, and 10 still has Bachelor In Paradise to come before the next Bach season.

But hey: A huge congrats to Osher, who finally got the Bachelor/Survivor mash-up he’s always dreamed of.
