Lily Collins shows us what it's like to choose a Golden Globes gown.

For most of us, the experience of sashaying down the red carpet at a Hollywood awards night is one that’ll only happen in our imaginations.

We’ll probably never know what it’s like to sit in hair and makeup for hours, to wriggle into a designer outfit that costs more than the average car, or to have hundreds of flashing cameras pointed directly at our faces.

However, thanks to Lily Collins, we’ve just been given a teensy glimpse into what it’s like to pick out a red carpet gown. And it can be summed up in two words: fashion nirvana.

Like a kid in a candy shop. It’s finally time to make a decision for The @GoldenGlobes! This looks impossible…

The English actress, who’s up for an award in the Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture category, kindly shared some behind-the-scenes snaps on Instagram.

“Like a kid in a candy shop,” she captioned her photo of a room — yep, an entire room — filled with designer gowns.

“It’s finally time to make a decision for the Golden Globes! This looks impossible.”

If the subsequent photo is anything to go by, Lily was as awed by the experience as any mere mortal would have been:

What a dream. Soaking in every moment and savoring the details…

“What a dream. Soaking in every moment and savoring the details…” she captioned the shot of herself quite literally swimming (…possibly naked?) in a sea of silk, tulle and other luxe-looking materials.

Life’s good when you’re an up-and-coming star.

The 2017 Golden Globes marks the first major award nomination for the 27-year-old, who happens to be the daughter of legendary musician Phil Collins.

She received the nod for her role in Rules Don’t Apply, a comedy-drama set in 1958 Hollywood that also stars Warren Beatty, Annette Bening, Matthew Broderick and Candice Bergen. (Post continues after gallery.)

Lily’s got some stiff competition, however — her fellow nominees include Emma Stone for La La Land and the formidable Meryl Streep for her turn in Florence Foster Jenkins.

Yeah, no biggie.

Guess we’ll just have to wait until Monday to find out which leading lady will win — and which dazzling dress Ms Collins selected.
