Let it rip! Fart-filtering undies are here

We can buy clothing that wicks away sweat, blocks out the sun and refuses to wrinkle, so we shouldn’t be surprised that the latest fabric technology blocks the smell of — we’re just gonna say it — farts.

Yep, the Daily News reports that a British company called Shreddies Ltd., is selling undies for both men and women made with Zorflex, a carbon cloth used in military gear worn to protect against chemical warfare. (Check out the tasteful ad image for them above!)

If you want declare your own war on human-made gas, Shreddies makes briefs and boxers that “filter odours 200 times the strength of the average flatus emmision,” according to the news service.

The paper reports the hi-tech undergarments come in particularly handy for those with digestive issues (think Crohn’s disease, IBS, Colitis), but with 11 retailers in in the U.K. selling the smell-hiding skivvies, there’s clearly a market beyond medical.

"Although Shreddies has got cheeky with the new campaign, to many people they still remain very much a healthcare product and have helped so many cope with conditions such as IBS, Crohn's and food intolerances,” a spokesperson tells the news service. “But the bottom line is that Shreddies are for everyone, after all, it’s something we all do.

"Flatulence seriously affects millions of people every day and since 2008 Shreddies has been helping those affected increase their quality of life. We have found the answer to help alleviate the most obvious symptom of flatulence…the odours."

Well, we know what our brother-in-law is getting in his stocking this Christmas.

Do you think the undies will be a hit?
