IT'S HAPPENING! Here's everything we know about the new Legally Blonde movie.

Start practising your bend and snap. Elle Woods is set to return in a new Legally Blonde film, 17 years after the first film.

It’s early days, but what we do know is that Reese Witherspoon will reprise her role. (Which is a relief, because that Reese-less 2009 Legally Blondes film was awful.)

The actress had the perfect way of confirming the news, tweeting a clip of herself gliding across a pool like in Elle’s Harvard Law application video.

This week Deadline broke the news that production studio MGM and Reese were close to finalising a deal for Legally Blonde 3. Around the time of Reese’s tweet, MGM also confirmed the film was happening, announcing it will be released on Valentine’s Day in 2020.

So far, we don’t know which actors will return for their roles, but let’s hope Elle and Emmett (Luke Wilson) are still together and she’s still best friends with Paulette (Jennifer Coolidge).

Deadline reports that the writers who adapted Amanda Brown’s novel, Kirsten Smith and Karen McCullah, will be back for the film. And we can have faith this one will be better than 2003’s Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde because it didn’t involve the pair.

Producers Marc Platt and Adam Siegel are also back – and Reese is joining them, under her production company Hello Sunshine.

There are no leaks on what the plot will involve, but in a 2017 interview with James Corden on his The Late Late Show, Reese made a suggestion at where her character could be right now.

“She could be a Supreme Court Justice or she could be like a really great, powerful attorney or she could be in prison. She could be anything.”

Our fingers are crossed she’s living in the White House.
