1. Lea Michele speaks about losing Cory Monteith.
Glee star Lea Michele has spoken about the experience of losing both her on- and off-screen lover, Cory Monteith. The 27-year-old actress told TV Week Australia:
“For me personally, I’ve lost two people: Cory and Finn. We had a beautiful memorial for Cory in the auditorium and some of the cast members sang and people spoke about him. It only felt right that we would do the same thing for Finn, so I felt it was very therapeutic.”
Michele then went on to explain how having the experience of farewelling Cory with her cast mate “family” had been therapeutic:
“Everyone is asking: ‘Is it hard to do this? Is it hard to be back at work?’, but the truth is it’s no harder at work than it is in life, so we might as well all be together as a family supporting each other to get through this together.”
31-year-old Cory Monteith died of a champagne and heroin overdose in July.

Last month, Kanye West and US TV host Jimmy Kimmel had a bit of a spat on Twitter. It all started when Kanye tweeted a series of caps-locked insults at Kimmel, after Kimmel had aired a spoof on a – particularly self-indulgent – interview that Kanye had given on the BBC earlier in the year. What ensued was an exchange of anger (courtesy of Kanye) and sarcasm (courtesy of Kimmel.)
Want to know how awkward it was? Well, it starts with Kimmel’s grovelling apology, after which Kanye only gives one word answers to all of his questions. (Including: “Ralph.” Which we are apparently all supposed to know means that Mr West is wearing Ralph Lauren.)
By the end, Kanye seems to be back to his old self. Talking about his artistry, and being a “creative genius.”

PETA has condemned Katy Perry for her use of elephants, most recently in her Roar film clip.
An open letter to the star was penned by Chris Palmer, director of the Centre for Environmental Filmmaking, says that elephants don’t like “loud noises, bright lights or hectic sets,” i.e. everything a Katy Perry music video is made of. They letter also raised questions about methods used to capture Suzy (the elephant in the clip).
“How did Suzy, a member of a threatened species from Africa, find herself next to Katy Perry on a deafening California set? She was violently captured from her free-roaming herd in Zimbabwe when she was two years old and shipped to the US, where she was most likely bound and beaten in order to make her perform without complaint.”
Perry has responded saying that no animals were harmed in the making of the Roar film clip.
on the jungle vine on the street is that PETA will be protesting outside this weeks taping of Saturday Night Live, where Perry will be performing.
