Kyly Clarke shares her secret stress busting technique.

New mum, former model and lifestyle (sorry, that should be lyfestyle) entrepreneur, Kyly Clarke can now add author to her CV.

Her new book, True to You was launched yesterday and she told The Motherish it’s something she’s wanted to do for a long time. “It’s a bit of an accomplishment.”
The inspiration for the book has come from Kyly’s own experiences getting through the grind of every day life, having an extremely busy schedule and the trials and tribulations she says everyone goes through in life.
“It’s basically the mantras and beliefs that I’ve lived by personally. When I’ve had tough times and days where I’ve needed a bit of inspiration I’ve always turned to these kind of books.
“Even when I just needed ten minutes to myself I’d sort of light a candle and be in a very serene place and have a few reads of inspirational books, to feel a little bit more at ease and remember that life is all about balance.”
She says this is what helps her find the energy to get up the next day and do it all again.

“I think the spiritual world is there to help you and guide you and I think that being able to tap into that is something that’s really really special, because I feel that’s when you really can be the best version of yourself.”
Kyly describes her daughter, four and a half month old Kelsey Lee as a settled, serene baby. “She smiles, she giggles, she’s so content and happy. She makes me so happy.

“It shows even more how important emotion is in life because she can’t communicate with me through words. She can only communicate through emotion.”

When asked if she’s enjoying being a mother, Kyly says, “I love it. It was extremely hard in the beginning, trying to find the balance,” reflecting the experience of most first time mothers. Of course, Kyly’s public profile lends an added pressure to new motherhood.

“You read people’s comments and posts, ‘oh well, she’s got the money to have a fitness trainer and this and that.’ It’s quite funny to read because yep, you’re right. There would be people that do have that and good on them. Each to their own but I actually don’t.

“I hope that other women have the faith and the courage and the confidence to push themselves to want to be the best they can be and at the same time be the best mother they can be.”

“I think if you’re a happy person your baby will be happy as well. It really does reflect. So you have to do what’s right for you and give yourself that 20 minutes or 30 minutes in the day to do something that makes you feel good about yourself and then you can give so much more time and mental energy to the people you love.”

Kyly Clarke’s first book, True To You, is on sale now.
