In 2006, Kim Kardashian was a celebrity closet clearer. And she was damn good at it.

It’s hard to remember what life was like pre-KardashiansE! has given us a little taste, sharing a 2006 interview with a pre-sex-tape Kim Kardashian.

There’s no multi-million dollar app yet. No 12-season reality TV show, controversial tweeting husband or even an Instagram account full of endorsements. Instead, Kim’s humble beginnings involved making over the closets of the rich and famous. Got to start somewhere, right?

“I’m Brandi’s stylist. I’m opening up a store called Dash with my two sisters. I go to my clients’ homes and I help them clean out their closets and we take whatever they don’t want and I sell it for them on eBay,” she told E!.

How the tables have turned.

Stylist to the stars or glorified closet clearer? Either way, you’ve got to admit Kardashian showed signs of her savvy business sense even then, quickly networking and making connections among the Hollywood set of ’06.

Her other celebrity clients? “Paris Hilton, Serena Williams, Cindy Crawford,” she continued.

We have her then best friend/employer Hilton to thank for introducing Kardashian to reality TV.

"I'm friends with Paris, so I did her closet so we're going to show her closet in the show," she told E! of appearing on The Simple Life.

In a clip from the show, Kardashian and Hilton are discussing whether to keep or cull Hilton's "In case I ever go to India" beaded dress. A client problem Kim was no doubt qualified to deal with.

"Filming [TSL] was so much fun. You know I really want to do a show that shows my life. That would be really fun for me because it's so natural," Kardashian said.

Fast forward less than a year, and the Kardashians would have a sex tape scandal, their own show and the start of a headline-dominating empire.

Oh young closet clearing Kim, if only you knew.
