Married At First Sight's Justin thinks he knows why John and Melissa broke up.

a href=”https://www.mamamia.com.au/ashley-and-justin-married-at-first-sight/”>Justin Fischer from the latest season of Married at First Sight has shared his thoughts on the breakup of his friends, former contestants on the show, John Robertson and Melissa Walsh.

Speaking to New Idea, the 41-year-old businessman said the pair were a “good couple” but also struggled to adjust to one another.

Mostly, however, Justin blames the breakup on the distance between the pair – John, 54, lives in Melbourne, compared to 53-year-old Melissa who lives on the Mornington Peninsula.

“They would’ve been a good couple, but they have a two-hour drive between them,” he said.

“And because of their age, they’re pretty set in their ways.”

This comes after John and Melissa announced their separation on Thursday, saying via Instagram they’ve tried to make it work but have decided to “no longer continue as a couple”.

“We really loved spending time together and getting to know each other,” their joint post read.

“We lived together so easily and it reminded us both how wonderful it is to be with a partner. We thought there would be some issues when we got into the real world outside but decided to give it a go and see it there was true feelings between us.”

We discuss Justin’s boat that wasn’t real, on our Married At First Sight podcast. Post continues after.

They put the breakup down to “significant differences in our lives and expectations in relationships”.

And though they said they tried, and tried, to make it work – they both agree “it doesn’t feel like it’s going anywhere”.

“We still care deeply for each other as friends and will never forget the incredible times we have had together,” their post reads.

Meanwhile, Justin is reportedly keeping busy with fellow contestant (but not his ‘wife’) Ashley Irvin, after their respective partners on the show – Troy Delmege and Carly Bowyer – have also gotten together.
