Jesinta Campbell speaks about Buddy Franklin for the first time.

Fighters fight.

Update.

Jesinta Campbell, 24, has spoken for the first time since it emerged that her fiance, Lance “Buddy” Franklin, 28, is seeking treatment for mental health issues.

He insisted she remains in Japan, where she’s been filming segments for Getaway.

She posted a picture to Instagram that reads, “It doesn’t matter how this looks to other people. If this is something you gotta do, then do it. Fighters fight.”

Accompanying the picture, she wrote a message thanking friends and fans for their support.

I would like to thank everyone for the support both Bud and I have received over the past few days. This is an extremely challenging time for us and has been for some time now, however it has been made easier by the love, understanding and support we have been given. Thinking of the many others who also live with this everyday and are not as fortunate to have the support we do.

I am incredibly proud of Bud’s strength and courage, this has not been an easy journey. I am thankful for the support of the Sydney Swans, both of our families, friends and [manager] Sharon. We are not alone in this. My heart is with my man. The only thing I ask is that everyone respect our privacy at this time.

What Mamamia reported previously…

While Lance “Buddy” Franklin makes headlines for seeking treatment for his mental health, his fiance Jesinta Campbell is thousands of miles away, working. And that’s how he wants it, for now.

“[Buddy] wants her to stay in Japan and keep working, that is what he has requested,” Franklin and Campbell’s manager Sharon Finnigan told SMH.

Jesinta Campbell was getting ready to fly to Japan when her fiance Sydney Swans player Buddy Franklin suffered a seizure in a Bondi cafe last Friday.

The 24-year-old TV presenter and former Miss Universe Australia reportedly received a phone call at the airport telling her that Franklin, 28, had been admitted to hospital.

A witness at the airport said Campbell “got really upset and started crying”, reports the Daily Telegraph.

It’s now believed Jesinta is due back at their Rose Bay, Sydney, home this weekend.

Representatives for the Swans said in a press conference yesterday that Franklin had been having mental health issues.

The club has also issued a statement saying that he has been suffering from mild epilepsy and that it is unrelated to his mental health concerns.

It must be truly awful to be so far away from your fiance while he’s going through such a difficult time. Of course, Franklin nursed Campbell through her own health problems last month when she was admitted to hospital for tonsillitis and dehydration.

Campbell hasn’t spoken publicly about Franklin’s collapse, but she has been posting pictures from Japan while she’s been filming segments for Getaway.

Franklin’s health has dominated the headlines back home since he announced he wouldn’t play in Saturday’s final.

“It’s a serious condition [and] he needs to spend some time away from the football club,” Swans coach John Longmire said yesterday.

“He won’t be playing this week. How long it will take we will have to wait and see. Our thoughts are with Lance and we hope he’s going to be OK.”

As do we.
