Jada Pinkett-Smith answers, "how hard is it being a wife and mum?"

It might be a couple of years old now, but this footage of Jada Pinkett-Smith answering the question, “how hard is it being a wife and mum?” completely floored me today.

Jada, her mother Adrienne Banfield-Jones and daughter Willow, recorded a Red Table Talk in 2012 for Mother’s Day. In it, Willow Smith asks her mum, “how hard is is being a wife and mum?”

Jada says, "It's challenging being a wife and a mother. It's a paradox... being a wife and a mother is probably one of the most extraordinary experiences and the most fulfilling experiences in my life. But at the same time, it has been very difficult to balance being able to do the things I want to do and have the freedoms I want to have and also being responsible for you and your brother and your father."

She continues, "I have to be responsible enough to take care of me."

The whole video, which you can watch below, left me asking, "how did I not see this in 2012?" I needed to hear Jada's insights into happiness, self care and balance then, and I needed to hear it today.

Do you agree with Jada that mother's need to be responsible enough to take care of themselves first?
