The photos that perfectly depict the difference between Instagram and reality.

By now many of us know Instagram is not the place to go if we want a healthy dose of reality – particularly if you follow fitness models.

However, it’s always nice to see Instagrammers (like our own Mia Freedman) keeping it real.

Dutch blogger Imre Çeçen is fitness model bucking the trend of posting endless perfect images by throwing a good dose of reality to the mix.

In a recent post, Imre, who has 250,000 fans following her for posts of exercise and fitness tips, shared a photo of her sitting poolside she titled “Instagram vs Reality”.

“I know some people are all done with the ‘keep it real’ pictures so I thought I’d try a new one. I find this one kinda hilarious. Chilling by the pool Instagram vs real life,” she wrote.

“Anyone familiar with the concept of having all “normal” legs when you’re standing but as soon as you sit down they transform into huge piles of meat?

“This is the most NORMAL thing ever yet us girls seem to be so self-conscious about it. Hello! Your legs are being pushed against a surface, they are supposed to expand!

“We’ve just lost touch with reality because on the internet all we see are those freaking hot dog legs. I am guilty of posting those too!”

Imre also detailed the work that went into creating the left poolside image.

“Creating that thigh-gap and skinny legs feel was real hard. I had to arch my back like crazy, hold my legs up (serious ab work was involved) and had to sit on the edge of the pool which caused me to almost fall.

“Both my camera and I would have drowned in the sadness of Insta perfection.”

She said she wanted girls to know that you can’t “get rid of rolls” and you shouldn’t try to.

Imre’s efforts to “keep it real” have also included her showing how her choice of pose makes a huge difference to the way her body looks.
